Chaco Canyon Archaeological Project.

 

 

The Chaco Canyon Archaeological Project is an ongoing investigation consisting of fieldwork, analysis, and interpretation of canal system dynamics during the A.D. 900-1150 era. This part of the project was sponsored by an NSF Grant to Dr. Wirt Wills, Department of Anthropology, University of New Mexico, Albuquerque.

Ancient Canal Profile

An exposed cross section of an ancient canal shows centuries of deposition as well as layers of silt deposited during the canals operation. Information from the stratified samples present a clear picture of ancient life and agricultural practices to our trained experts!
